Nav Database Update by Pilot

19 December, 2012 / admin / FAA, News
0

Part 43 is amended to allow pilots update database of the navigation system without a mechanic signoff, effective 28 Jan., 2013.

This is a good idea, and should improve dispatch reliability and/or prevent out dated Nav-Database on MEL.  Airlines and private operators should have some kind of training and procedures in place to be reviewed and approved by their CMO, since improper data upload could affect safety of flight, specially with databases that include SIDs and STARs.
